The rice diet was born in the early 1900s by the intuition of a German physician Walter Kempner.
According to data published by Duke University, patients undergoing rice diet in 63% of cases have not regained the lost kilograms and 43% of patients after 6 years have not regained the lost kilograms.
Principle of operation
The rice diet is divided into two phases:
The first phase is called the detoxification phase and provides for a daily caloric intake of only 800 calories, with the consumption of fruits and integral rice in particular.
The second phase envisages a consumption of 1200 calories per day and vegetables, carbohydrates and fish can be added once a week.
Consumption of salt is very limited, as well as that of fat (5 g or less). The diet includes an intensive physical activity program, the use of iron supplements, and ongoing medical check-ups.
